Collection: 300 000 documents Area: 3253m² Nagyobb térképre váltás Library's collection and services Our collection contains documents from the former Kenézy Health Sciences Library, the Library of the Chemistry Department, and documents relating to life sciences from the collection of the University and National Library at the University of Debrecen. Structural units:Open shelves: Books on the 1st floor: books are arranged by subject according to the categories of NLM and LC. Periodicals on the 2nd floor: current year's issues are arranged in alphabetical order, bound periodicals are all located here. The incoming periodicals are stored separately for two weeks according to issue dates. Stacks: Books: less frequently used materials are stored here, documents are available through filling out a call slip. Periodicals: bound periodicals from previous years are stored here. Reference library: General and field reference materials are located here on open shelves. Special collections: Including: Theses, PhD dissertations, Bequest of István Benedek, Félix Szontágh, Lajos Szodoray, etc. History of Medicine collection: publications, bibliographies, donation of Árpád Szállási Publications of Medical and Health Science Centre and faculty publications Departmental Libraries: Library of the Faculty of Dentistry Library of the Faculty of Public Health Library of the Medical and Health Science College Services Catalogues and materials on open shelves are available locally for everybody, and these documents can be photocopied. Registration is required to use other services of the Library including: History The Kenézy Library of the Faculty of Medicine was founded in 1947. In the beginning the collection was based on three major resources: medical books and periodicals from Tisza István University, a donation of 327 books by Lund University in Sweden, and bequest of Professor János Balogh. In 1948 the Library took on the name of Professor Gyula Kenézy who played a significant role in the organization of the University of Debrecen. |
